A private manga and novel library on Cloudflare's edge

For personal use — signing in is required.

About the project

A single-user library for manga and novels — multi-source search and import, synced reading progress, favorites and permanent archiving — with an AI workspace behind the login. The whole system runs on Cloudflare Workers, with no always-on server.

This one is for personal use, so it sits behind a login. It's here because it's the furthest we've pushed Cloudflare — Workers, D1, R2, Queues, the Cache API and cron triggers all working together, with Google Drive as the permanent store.

The reader shares one responsive interface across phone and desktop, renders pages in the browser with Canvas and keeps progress and the shelf in sync. The project ships with automated mobile UI tests, storage audit scripts and a full recovery guide.

Highlights

  1. 01

    Four storage tiers

Google Drive is the permanent store, R2 holds hot copies of favorites, the Cache API keeps short-lived pages and D1 indexes metadata and replicas. Reads fall back R2 → edge cache → Drive → source.

  2. 02

    Saved means verified

An item only counts as saved once its permanent copy passes integrity checks — a cache hit is never proof. Failed cloud deletes are logged and the record is kept so they can be retried.

  3. 03

    Queue-driven background work

Prefetching, replication, migration and cleanup all run on Cloudflare Queues with retries and dead-letter queues, while cron triggers sweep stale metadata.

  4. 04

    An AI workspace with context

Streaming chat, model switching, vision on the current page and image generation. Upstream streams are normalized inside the Worker into one event format, only read-only tools are exposed, and the browser never sees a key.

  5. 05

    Built to be recovered

One command configures production, and a pinned stable recovery bundle with a cross-platform guide can rebuild the whole service from a fresh machine.
